Lee-Ann Bates, Endorsed OneBC Candidate

Lee-Ann Bates

Endorsed Candidate — Port Coquitlam

Lee-Ann Bates was born in the Interior and has called the Tri-Cities home for most of the past fifteen years.

As a single mother and business owner, she understands firsthand the pressures of housing costs, affordability, and navigating the education and health systems for a child with special needs.

Her career began in insurance while she also worked as a doula. Motivated by a desire to support individuals and families, she later trained in hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioural therapy and practised privately. She chose to leave the field due to concerns about the early sexualization of children, the growing influence of ideology in therapy, and the need to better support her own child’s education.

Today she educates her daughter at home, is self-employed providing education support and traffic management services, serves as a volunteer on two boards (one focused on education and one on environmental issues), and is active in her local church.

Lee-Ann is stepping forward as a OneBC candidate because she believes the legislature needs more ordinary people who are willing to serve their communities by asking difficult questions, restoring transparency, and engaging in reasonable conversations on the hard and complex issues facing British Columbia today.

Having shifted from a left-of-centre viewpoint to a common-sense, centre-right perspective, she brings the ability to connect with moderate voters through logical, good-faith dialogue.

Lee-Ann Bates is endorsed by OneBC as the candidate for Port Coquitlam. She is running to ensure that the government exists to serve the people of British Columbia—not the other way around. It’s time for change.
