Jenny Yamagata
Candidate — Burnaby North
Jenny Yamagata has called Burnaby home for 15 years. She is a mother of three and enjoys the challenges and rewards of raising her children alongside her husband, Dean.
Jenny is the founder of Women’s Oasis for Maternal Wellness & Birth (WOMB), a non-profit organization with a vision to establish a community-based birth and maternal wellness centre supporting women and their families throughout their prenatal, birth and postpartum experiences.
Prior to having children, Jenny worked as an Administrative Assistant at Capilano Golf & Country Club and served as second-in-command for more than 13 years at her family’s glass art studio, Montpetit Studios. She brings extensive experience in the service and hospitality industries and has dedicated considerable time to volunteering with numerous organizations, including the Burnaby Wildcats on the RDT Committee and six years as a Girl Guide Leader.
Jenny has advocated for safer neighbourhood streets at the municipal level and has spent the past six years working to hold public officials accountable. She is personally committed to the mental well-being of youth and teachers, equitable access to education for all students, and responsible public spending. Securing the construction of Phase 2 of Burnaby General Hospital will be a top priority for her.
Jenny is unafraid to speak up and she takes the time to listen to the concerns of friends and neighbours and to find innovative solutions to address the challenges they face. Jenny would be honoured to serve as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Burnaby North, representing the people of her community and working to address their concerns and priorities.
