Denis Hurtubise is endorsed by OneBC as the candidate for Surrey South. He has been married for 38 years, has three children and three grandchildren, and has worked as a longshoreman for 46 years.
As he and his family look toward retirement, Denis believes he cannot, in good conscience, leave massive debt for his children and grandchildren. With his family’s home serving as their retirement nest egg, concerns about property title and a shrinking job market have motivated him to stand up for his family and other British Columbians to help ensure a future for generations to come.
Denis is concerned about the loss of secondary industry in British Columbia as raw resources are processed overseas, taking jobs with them. He also recognizes the growing impact of automation on employment, from bank tellers to dockworkers. With fewer workers paying taxes, he believes the tax burden on those who remain employed will continue to increase.
Denis believes that the government cannot tax its citizens into prosperity and that a balance is needed. If elected as the representative for Surrey South, he promises to serve to the best of his abilities and ensure that British Columbia is well represented.
